Mir Islam
Mir Islam is Founder and CEO of EMONE ENERGY INC., a Toronto-headquartered engineering firm that develops, builds and operates distributed power systems for Africa's fast-growing economies. An engineer with more than 25 years of experience in power systems and renewable energy, Mir founded EMONE over a decade ago and built it into an engineering-led developer that runs the full project lifecycle in-house, from design and EPC to long-term operation.
EMONE's track record in Nigeria includes 86 solar microgrids for health facilities, the 3.3 MWp University of Abuja campus microgrid, and Mabushi Solar, Nigeria's first grid-interconnected, revenue-generating renewable project.
Today Mir focuses on one of the defining questions for the Global South: how to power the AI economy where grids are weak or absent. EMONE delivers reliable, clean captive power for commercial and industrial users and on-site generation for data centres and digital infrastructure. It is now pursuing edge compute data centres across Africa that are built around their own power systems, so that compute capacity, and the value it creates, can sit close to the people and businesses it serves.
