CleanAI Funding Projected to Reach $50B in 2025

Toronto, Canada (July 24, 2025) – CleanAI ventures have attracted nearly US$50 billion since 2020, according to the CleanAI Initiative’s State of CleanAI 2025 study previewed this July. The momentum highlights that AI-driven clean economy technologies are attracting capital even as broader cleantech funding cools. Key takeaways from the State of CleanAI 2025 preview include:

• The most active cleanAI VCs are Bill Gates's Breakthrough Energy, LowerCarbon Capital and S2G with 43, 36, and 35 deals respectively between 2018-H12025.  

• Energy & Power remains the top cleanAI subsector with 47% of VC dollars, reflecting the need for grid-edge intelligence and renewable integration.

• Materials & Chemicals startups saw the fastest growth, with H12025 roughly 72% larger than full year 2024, as AI mega deals accelerate material discovery and process optimization.

Additionally, the State of CleanAI 2025 examines AI's own energy footprint, the race for sovereign compute, and concerns surrounding infrastructure and other inequalities.
